I also found this the way to expose my 9 and 11 year old boys to “girl” classics that they would never pick up on their own because of the covers. I read them The Secret Garden and A Little Princess and they loved them both. It just shows that boys can like books with girl main characters, they just need that exposure. My husband has been wading through the Harry Potter series with them as well. Both boys are great readers in their own rights, but they still love being read to.
